Be ready for any festive emergencies here in Eaglesham
21 DecemberEveryone’s hoping for a happy, healthy and safe festive season here in Eaglesham - but just in case, we’ve put together all the information you need about doctors, pharmacies and local council services over the Christmas and New Year period.
Doctors’ surgeries will be closed on the 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th of December then again on the 31st of December, 1st, 2nd and 3rd of January. If you become unwell on these days and can't wait for your surgery to re-open or have a more serious illness that can't be treated by a pharmacist, then you can get assistance by calling NHS 24 on 08454 24 24 24.
If you do not have this number to hand, you can call your GP practice.You will either hear a recorded message or your call will automatically be diverted to NHS 24. When you call NHS 24 they will put you through to a health professional who will talk to you about your symptoms and arrange for you to see a GP if necessary.
Your GP Practice will be available as normal on Friday 23rd December and will also be open on Friday 30th December.

Council offices - close at on Friday 23 December and re-open on Wednesday 28 December 2011. Offices will also close on Friday 30 December and re-open on Wednesday 4 January 2012.
Schools – Eaglesham schools will close on Thursday 22 December 2011 and re-open on Monday 9 January 2012.

There are no alterations to the refuse and recycling collections across East Renfrewshire.
Recycling centres
Take your festive waste to a recycling centre over the break.
Please note that Barrhead Recycling Centre and Greenhags Recycling Centre will be closed on Christmas Day and Sunday 1 January 2012.
Real Christmas trees can be sent for composting by placing inside (where possible) or alongside your brown bin. Cardboard can be taken to local recycling points but please note that capacity here is somewhat limited and if you have lots of cardboard packaging, please take this to the Barrhead Recycling Centre and Greenhags Recycling Centre. Most greeting cards and wrapping papers can be recycled in the white sack collection, those which have silver foil or are 'plasticised' i.e. do not tear like paper, should be placed in your grey bin.

Antisocial behaviour. Call the antisocial helpline free and confidentially on 0800 013 0076. Report noisy neighbours; loud music; neighbourhood disputes; litter; fly tipping; graffiti and dog fouling. Our community wardens and control room operators will be on duty 24/7over the festive period.
